Colby grew up studying ballet at the San Francisco Ballet School and appeared in numerous ballets with the company. Later she trained as a theatre actor at ACT’s Young Conservatory, HB Studios in NYC, and with Marcel Marceau at his school in Paris, L'École Internationale de Mimodrame de Paris Marcel Marceau. In addition to appearing in many plays, she was the artistic founding director of The Movement Theatre Company in Cambridge, Massachusetts, which produced original work. While in Cambridge, she was also an award-winning teaching fellow at Harvard while she pursued her graduate studies there.
At an art and technology conference in the mid-1990s, she found herself drawn to advanced animation software and thus began a long and fruitful exploration of that special zone where art and technology intersect. Later she returned to New York to work as a web producer for the New York Times Digital, where she implemented innovative multimedia story-telling technology for the Pulitzer-winning “Race in America” series, spearheaded a major redesign of the community sections of the site, and conducted audio interviews for the New York Times Millennium Series.
While working at the NYT, Colby began seeking innovative ways to create and distribute multimedia content. As a result, in 1999 she co-founded Wildform, an award-winning multimedia technology company. During her tenure as Chief Marketing Officer, Wildform received extensive press, stellar reviews and awards, and developed a loyal base of enthusiastic customers. She created and wrote much of the content for the newsletter, helped amass a 100,000+ person opt-in list, created the Wildform blog, placed Wildform sites in the top 10 position in major search engines and implemented successful viral, web video and other online advertising and marketing campaigns.

Colby has a BA from Barnard and an MA from Harvard. She lives in Los Angeles.
